Bee Spotting Spotlight~ An amazing gift from a friend

I have not been feeling very "bloggy" lately.  I am here and there but nowhere much if that makes sense.  My mind is tired, my google reader just said I had 900 or so unread posts...mind you there are some design blogs that post 20 a day and I just keep on there to lurk at.  No worries, I do not stay in a funk for long.  In my life there always seems to be something or someone that is so special it wakes me up a little....brings a little smile to my face and sweetens my day.

Yesterday, after a long day at work, I came home to surprise mail.  I love surprise mail.  Suki had just mentioned she would be sending something my way, but It really did not register for a few days.  This fabulous art piece made it to my mailbox before my chance to email her back did.  Of course gratitude overflows for the kindness...but the theme...bee still my heart!  Suki made this way before she even knew I was into bees for a "spelling bee, quilting bee and honey bee theme.  The picture, even with a great camera does not do it justice...some sunshine would help!  Well to Suki, you brightened my day and then some.  I have already told Suki I am planning on an "art wall" in my kitchen and this will be absolutely perfect!

From Russia with Love!

About 2 weeks ago I was surfing around Etsy and ended up at JaneBo Felt.  I immediately fell in love with a Nuno felted scarf.  I suggest checking out the Nuno process if you get a chance.  So many great how-to's it was hard to pick one. Jane had just opened up her shop and I had to buy this before it was snatched up.  How though, she lives in Moscow.  My husband was a bit amazed I was about to find out how to buy something from Russia.  I tend to be clueless on things like this and said, "why not it is a beautiful scarf from  a very talented artist and I simply must have it".  So I asked Jane about it since there is no paypal for sellers in Russia.  Jane, who communicates very well in English, guided me through the billing linked with paypal and it was super simple.  We were not sure how long it would take but I believe it was shipped out on Jan 13 and was attempted to be delivered on Saturday the 24 but no one was here to sign.  I got to the post office as soon as I could yesterday and skipped out of there with excitement.  I had a package from Russia!

The scarf came with a sweet flower pin and it all smells as beautiful as it looks!

Jane gave me a free gift for being her first Etsy customer, a felted flower pin of my choice.  So hard to decide so I told her to surprise me and I wear a bright green velvet coat. Take a look at what this honey sent me! (again, sorry about the flash picture, it was dark by time I could take photos)

 

I will include this super model of my new scarf from her Etsy site. A much better idea of the color and style.  I can also tell you the price was great too compared to all the other Nuno scarves I have seen.  Shipping from Russia was only $5 too!

A long, long time ago...

...I won something in a give away.  Back in August I added a comment on Suzan Buckners blog for a give away, why not.  Well I won this cute little mixed media painting of a girl, who I may call "Little Suzy Bee".

"Little Suzy Bee" arrived finally the other day in a fun box that rattled with excitement.  Then I open the box to find this!

I whole box full to the brim for my Pajama Girl!   Hmmm, thought I won.  The kid takes the spotlight again!  Why shouldn't she though.  Suzan B saw her "Found Art" and out of the goodness of her heart stocked Lauren a box full of treasures she can create with.  I did record the discovery of the box and you can check it out here.  Lots of other fun stuff going on for Pajama Girl these days so be sure to check out frequently.  She is now thinking like a pro...blogger...that is.  I repeatedly hear "won't this be good for my website" or "I want this on my website".  I wonder where she has learned this mysterious behavior???
