It was a beautiful day yesterday. I did spring cleaning....aka more mission organization...in the morning. Pajama Girl had a half day, picked her up and smelled Spring at 11:15 in the morning. It led me to make an impulse stop at a florist to pick up tulips on the way home. It also led us outside in search of Pussy Willows. We have 65 acres...there just must be some...somewhere! We also seached for more Spring things.
(a wellie full of snow does not feel like Spring...brrr)
This does not look like a Spring home either
Momma and Papa Goose have said it is Spring enough...every year they nest in the back of our fields near the pond.
The question is...did we find Pussy Willow? I had hoped so but something seemed odd or maybe we hit the jackpot of all Pussy Willow. Close to our house we saw this:
They are as soft as kittens toes but I had always thought it had grown straight up and down and more red in color.....and did not grow on a trunk this size:
We snipped a few limbs of a smaller offspring near this anyway since the light grey and soft fuzzies had a charming look. Mr. Honey was home at this point so me, in my blondness, tell him...convincingly that the giant tree by the old pool fence is really a giant Pussy Willow tree. He said "all this time I thought that was a Quaking Aspen" Then we both thought Pussy Willows were more like shrubs.
Now comes the lesson
I could not let it rest, I looked up Quaking Aspen and guess what I found out....it is in the Willow family! We were both right, him more than me as usual when it comes to the brainiac things. (I am with Einstein who once said something along the lines of "why clutter your brain with stuff you can easily find in an handy reference source") Maybe he did not say it exactly like that but I can look it up if need be. I do know Einstein said " Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." and another favorite "Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves." Which has absolutely nothing to do with this post. I love Einstein and his quotes, I love that he believed in himself. I also think I will end this tangent, go find an Einstein quote of the day widget-a-ma-thing to add and unplug for a while.
***TO DEBBY, THAT WAS NOT A 7 STOREY PUSSY WILLOW YOU SAW OUT THE WINDOW THAT DAY, BUT CLOSE!***
