I have been busy with some custom artwork and another larger project I started for the strange reason of needing to do something that would drive me crazy. What I really needed was a distraction and a fun one at that. This week the theme on Inspire Me Thursday is "Opposites". Sounded perfect for a quick interruption in all my craziness. So I put it in my "Whacked" Altered Journal and actually had something to write about.
My perfect pear/pair pages are about the extreme opposites of my husband and I. Opposites really do more than attract in our case...opposites are the secret to our marriage. We are each other's missing link, trust me there are a lot of those. Together 2 halves perfectly make a whole. If you were to go to my "About page" and read "my Philosophies" second to last you would read:
"When you find your soul mate there is no difference of where one begins
and the other one ends."

I have to throw this one in to Inspire Me Thursday last minute. This is one of my favorite shirts. (The rest of my wardrobe is pretty pale in comparison to this and yesterdays socks and shoes. )

I remember wearing this shirt to Saratoga to meet my cousin. We were shopping for dresses for me to wear in her wedding. She had "us" the bride's maids wear great black cocktail dresses of our choice. In any case, I needed a piece of jewelry to go with this great shirt and whipped this up about an hour before I left to meet her!

Well it has been so crazy lately I almost forgot about more of my favorite subject,"wardrobe" going on over at IMT this week. I love clothes, I love shoes and I love accessories, mostly I love shoes. Can I tell you...I was awarded "Best Dressed" my senior year of high school. Cool huh?....sounds like bragging doesn't it??? Tell me something would you? How does someone who wears a UNIFORM to school end up with "Best Dressed"?? No...let me answer that...IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN BECAUSE OF MY SHOES. Did I mention I love shoes?
So my inspiration piece for pages of my Whacked Journal are of my FAVORITE shoes and socks. First the shoes...
...then the pages!
Positive I will not be able to stop at just this though...am thinking about something like my digital enhancement below.

Another fabulous Tuesday of Bee Spotting! I am honored to start with one of my favorite artists, "Bee" from Australia. She has come into her own bee-utiful style which you can enjoy at Witchetty as well as find her art at her Etsy shop. Bee is one of the first artists I really got to know through the blog world and I do own an original I adore from her. Bee has created our Queen here and she is already sold! Congratulations Bee!
Jeanette Janson has been Buzzy with her birds again. While Maya Angelou may know "why the caged bird sings", I know why the "caged bee stings". Or more like, the caged bee got stung on this one. While I was slaving away in the "cage" this weekend, Jeanette posted and sold this one right out from under me! I must get one of these some day!!!
Suzan Buckner the Thrifty Cottage Artist has this for sale at her Lulu shop. Lots of fun stuff from her hive. I also enjoy this one on her flickr photostream. If your eyes have been a bit tired of all the rain, go there quick for a delightful color treat for the eyes.
And who is not always looking for great supplies?? Just got this latest "new stuff" from Impress Rubber Stamps thank to ~*~Patty from Magpie's Nest and keeping me up to date on the latest and greatest. Who does not love that perfect honeycomb shape???

If you haven't seen this book (book without a name) you might want to pick up a copy - they're really cheap now! It was released in 1985 without a title; there was a contest to figure out the title from clues in the illustrations,which are absolutely amazing, all centered around bees. I actually did figure out the title, which is "The Bee on the Comb," but I didn't win the contest, as you were to send the author the title "without using words" and apparently my entry wasn't clever enough. :) Anyway, I think you'll really like it.
I immediately bee-lined to Amazon and bought one before I could even thank Lisa. It did just arrive and looks fascinating. I love stuff like that!
On to the cute honeys! I found this adorable artwork from Coralie Colorie. Check out the spare wings on the line! Love it! (my spare wings are finally drying after days of rain)
But, she did not stop there. Coralie just emailed me this next one, she has blown me away with cuteness on this honey! Thank you so much, this is just the cutest thing I have seen in a long time (minus of course the bee bum in last weeks post)
Well have to wrap it up now and will do so with more cuteness and a photo...always need a photo in this post. The sweet as honey girl below is a "creation" of Karen Brown who can bee found at Just Karen...great name by the way. I loved the post I found this in, just go here and read to enjoy why.
Karen Brown also filled me in on her opinion of how mead tastes and in her words "not for me....eeeewwww" but her hubby loved it. I can relate!

I had several ideas for this weeks Illustration Friday's theme of Sail. One was visualizing the seeds of a dandelion flying away with a little sail on it. I played around with it in my sketch book....then took it to the altered book. Got here and decided I like it with the words in the book...no little sail boat. Was not going to submit, just use it as sort of a blueprint for the future. Then I saw the theme of "sail" was suggested by the American Cancer Society. So I had to post. Wouldn't it bee wonderful someday, sooner than later, for anyone with cancer to SAIL through their treatment and anchor themselves with a cure!

As promised I am posting the other fun stuff I had played with for Mixed Media Monday's fashion week starting 8/11/08. I have such a fun box full of vintage sewing goodies and this is only the beginning. These are done on wood blocks, slightly over 3 inch square. They are covered with old French work book pages, just love the font. The photo does not do them justice. I was playing with a lamp I bought on clearance a while back that is suppose to give "natural daylight", will have to play some more. They look a bit "bright washed" or something. Also think I need a picture from an angle so the depth can be enjoyed.
A little less bold than the last post...but if I can't "Bee Random" while I am "Beeing Creative" I just would not "Bee Myself"
