She...

...is off to Etsy.  This is Daddy's Girl and thought "SHE" would bee perfect for a pocket mirror for my Etsy store in the month of October especially.  I am donating as much of the proceeds as possible to The American Cancer Society.  I chose to make a mirror "Daddy's Girl" bee-cause someday I hope all the Daddy's girls of the world will not have worry about breast cancer.

Then I got brave and tossed this original painting in my Etsy Store too!

Baby steps...that's it.  A little at a time, when I can.  When I approached my supervisor from my "cage" job about cutting back on my hours as a pharmacist to focus on what my heart needs to do I had printed out a copy of something I read over and over for her to keep for her own goals and to understand why and where I am headed.  I am headed to something a bit more beautiful in my eyes.  That "something" I gave her is "The Daffodil Principle" and I encourage anyone who has never read it to do so.  Especially if you want something as glorious as this in your life.

Little Red House

Here is just something to look at while I am busy going to the dentist and running around Albany today.  It is a 3x3" on wood and really not crooked, just the scan was and then the background was cropped out so now it looks crooked.  The whole way this came about was from noticing the spaces in this fabulous writing.   Looked like little houses could fit in just perfect.  So a silly, simple little art piece to look at today.  If anyone happens to be new to my web log, please go back a bit.  I swear, I can do better than this!!!

Doors closing

Today is a sad one in my life as a parent.  The loving doors of Lauren's daycare and pre-k are closing for good.  The reasons we will never truly know.  She was in a perfect location for years, and old Catholic school, complete with a gym for running in around all winter.  The teachers are amazing and we have known them for close to 5 years.  I have made them an art piece that stems from my "Gone but not Forgotten"  piece inspired be a theme on Illustration Friday from June 6th. 

Today will be a tough one.  I need to drop Lauren off for her last day and when I walk out the door it will be the last time.  Tears will probably come as they did the first day when I walked out, leaving my 6 month old baby with "strangers".  These "strangers" are now friends, family even.  They were all important role models in Lauren's life and at her young age she did not know what the connection was, only that she was loved and with people we trust.

So to the Gals, as enclosed in the card I made them featuring the "Gone but not Forgotten" print on the cover I leave to you my words of thanks:

Juicy

This delicious piece is on a 7x7" square of wood.  I used a black glaze which I rubbed into the final piece and wiped off.   I think the scan emphasizes it a bit more than normally visible, but it really gave it a bit more interest.

Still in CT visiting and if it were not for my hive and my husband, I would never leave here.  Speaking of my husband who is home working and taking care of the dogs, there is a "while the cat's away" story.  My husband decided he was going to play  and we are now the proud owners of a tractor.  We are officially a "Green Acres" story.   He bought it nearby and drove it home. I can just see him.  I would be the gal annoyed at some slow tractor going down the side of the road in some manure scented back road of someplace time forgot...but this time it was my very own husband.  Thank goodness I was able to do some shopping the first day we arrived!  Honestly, I am excited to go home and see it and am already picturing the Christmas photo cards that will humor all my friends I keep a "city-gal " reputation with.

Flocking together

Here they are, the flocking family I am staying with, hee hee.  We have a little tradition of exchanging small gifts each time we see each other so of course I had to give them a custom one from my  simple "Fresh as Green" line.  This is on a 7x7" wood square and each feathered family member is made from a vintage map of their birth place.  Since Lily and Oliver were born in the same town, I chose Block Island for Oliver.  That is were he started quite literally.  Sorry Kim, you have known me for 30 years and know better than to share a TMI* story with me.

Green House

This simple green house is one of my tiny 3x3" on wood.  I am submitting it to Mixed Media Monday because their theme this week is monochromatic and this is almost that. 

Cherry-O

I love this little one.  It is a 3inch square of wood.  I will have to take some pictures of all these together so you can appreciate the size and depth they all have.  These have all been scanned in but many have fun bordered edges and the wood ones just have a nice solid comfort to them.

These country charmers are only a mere 3x3 inch square of wood.  Inspired by a party we attended last night at a friend's farm house.  There are lots of farm houses out here, in fact we live on an old horse farm I am told.  Just no barn~boo hoo. 

The party we went to last night was the perfect country living fling.  My friend, Irena and her husband, live on a very quiet 100 acre setting.  Irena is from Poland, lived in CT for many years and ended up living the "Green Acres" life.  She really does like it here but refuses to let her hubby Jim know that, I totally understand where she is coming from with that.  If us implanted farm girls let our hubbys know we actually loved the surroundings it would be the end to all the repairs we are begging for! (and some of us are still begging for them to begin)

A Night Oot

I live with 2 night owls, it is tough.  I am a morning bee myself. This is great in the aspect of free time.  For example, it is 9:45 am right now and everyone is still sleeping including the dogs.  I have been up since 5:30ish enjoying coffee and some projects which need to be done.

Grandeur

May everyone enjoy some fireworks today, Happy Independence Day!

In 1776, John Adams declared, "The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore."    July 4th was the day Congress approved and sent to the printer!!!

I will never push religion on anyone and "God" can mean anything we beelieve in, you can not take it away from America, it is part of our history and why we are as fortunate as we are today.  Put your hand on your heart when you pledge your allegiance, more than mere mortals are watching.
