it is official...i have begun and there is no stopping me now
this is Tarsem...however he goes by 'Sam Singh'
not a complete stranger but a perfect first for my attempt at the 100 Strangers project...something i have been wanting to do for a long time.
Sam owns a gas station that i visit a few times a year when i travel. In fact i would not do that trip without stopping in. He remembers me, welcomes me and has even carried window washer fluid out to my car and added it for me. We always chat a bit. I have wanted to ask him for his picture before and somehow had a hard time with that...but today was different. Today i am filled with a weekend of hugs that will last a lifetime. I am changing and the calmness in me likes that change.
Life is too short and if i were to die tomorrow there are a few less things on my 'wish i had done' list and i am thankful for that. And i am thankful that Sam said yes to my offer to take a picture of him. I lived this weekend for the fullness of the moments without taking pictures of them...sometimes we have to do that...in fact i recommend it
for those who do not know about this project find about more at the above link...one of the first things you will read is the following:
'Step out of your comfort zone to a new level of portrait photography: take 100 portraits of people you don't know.'
the day i started this a very very good friend posted this video...and i just love it...it really lifts my spirits and makes me realize that the comfort zone i may be in and afraid to step out of may not be as comfortable as i thought and there is much more pleasure to life than we may think we deserve
